Pearls are the only gemstone which is created by living creatures which are shell molluscs. The word pearl comes from the latin word “perna” which means leg which is a reference to the shape of the gem in the shell of the mollusc. Pearls are known to represent purity and innocence.

Alexandrite is one of the most rare gems and discovered relatively recently. According to the legend it was discovered in 1834 and named in honour of the Russian Czar Alexander II. During the daylight it is a bluish green color and at night it possesses purplish red hue. It is believed to symbolise creativity, imagination and intuition.

Moonstone has a shimmery appearance similar to the moon and this is where it’s name comes from. Moonstone is thought to possess calming and balancing powers as well as lunar mystery and magic. These powers are believed to help those with insomina or other sleep disorders and well as those who travel during the night.
